Amber for Inner Beauty

While we call Amber a stone or crystal, it is actually petrified tree resin. Tree resin drips down and can trap flora, insects, etc. and then hardens with age into what is known as Copal (young Amber). It matures after several million years into Amber.

Amber is a stone of warmth and is very uplifting. It helps with healing the body from the inside out and brings out your inner beauty.  Kaurilite Amber is a rare type from the Kaurilite tree in New Zealand.

As a healing stone, Amber can draw pain and dis-ease from the body, mind, spirit and transform it into positive energy. It warms the body as it is associated with the sun and helps to balance the Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras. It is best used next to the skin.

Amber is a stone of beauty and holds inner secrets with it's inclusions, especially bugs. When worn next to the body it helps our own inner beauty to shine forth. It also has a protective and clearing energy. Burning Amber resin clears old, stagnant and negative energy from your space the same way as sage does.

There is also reconstituted amber which is much less expensive than real Amber. You can recognize it by its orange colour. There can be some Amber in it, but is mostly made up of resin.

There are five different colours of Amber:

Yellow to brownish or cognac colour,  is the most often seen. When it is an opaque yellow it is quite often called butterscotch amber. Most of our amber in the store comes from Colombia.

Green, can be natural but is also heat-treated yellow amber. When natural the darker the green the more expensive the piece.

Red or Cherry Amber is very dark and when put under a light it looks reddish brown, in most cases it is heat-treated.

Blue is the rarest of colours and quite often needs to be seen under a light to see the blue, it is found in the Dominican Republic and Indonesia. The blue amber we have in the store is from Indonesia.

Black is a very dark colour and has not been fully fossilized. It gets its dark colour when it was mixed with inclusions like soil and other debris. When held under light you can see yellow and red amber in it. It is a softer amber and can break apart.

This would be a good stone to add to your crystal healing collection. Placing it anywhere on the body makes people feel protected and warm as it carries wonderful life force energy.
