Bumblebee Jasper is found only in Indonesia. It is called this because of the yellow and black bands that resemble the markings of a bee. However, Bumblebee Jasper isn’t a jasper because it isn’t a silicate mineral. It’s a complex calcium carbonate mineral with inclusions of arsenic and manganese oxides.

Its yellow and orange coloring is due in large part to its content of realgar (which contains arsenic). Pyrite and hematite provides the oxidized iron that makes up the black parts of this stone.
