Labradorite, with its beautiful rainbow of colours from gold to purple, is on just about everyone's favourite list. Once in a while you come across a piece that has a purple flash which is one of the prized colours. Labradorite is in the Feldspar family along with Larvikite, Moonstone and Sunstone.

If you thought Labradorite was named after Labrador, Canada, you would be right! It was first found there and has since been found other places, with some of the most beautiful from Madagascar.

There are many uses for Labradorite, one being protection. If you do any energy work, whether readings, Reiki, crystal healing, etc., wearing Labradorite helps to protect you from not picking up any outside energy. Judy Hall, author and crystal teacher, never did any kind of energy work without wearing her Labradorite pendant for protection. Remember to cleanse it often.

Labradorite is also a stone of communication. One story relates that it was brought here by beings from other star systems. It helps us to communicate on all different levels. It can help open up the throat so the right words will flow and encourages intuitive communication. Holding Labradorite while meditating can help with inter-dimensional journeying and connect you to past or future lives.

Known as a Stone of Magic, Labradorite connects you to your own inner mythical, mystical and magical spirit. Keep it around you, meditate with it to have its energy infuse your aura and physical body.

In crystal healing, place it anywhere on the body that needs protection. To open and/or clear the Third Eye chakra, place it on the brow and leave for 5 to 20 minutes.
