Alexandrite, also called Diaphanite, is a rare type of Chrysoberyl found in Russia in 1834 which changes colour from green to red depending on the lighting. Generally, it is green during the day and red in darker lighting. I also found I could see a dark red when put under a stronger light and moving it around.
