Amethyst, a master healing crystal, is a truly remarkable gem that serves as a personal cheerleader, always in your corner, providing support when you need it most. It plays a pivotal role in helping you shed feelings of anxiety, offering a sense of calm amidst life's storms. Amethyst acts as a guiding light during meditation, helping you delve deeper into the practice. This wonderful crystal aids in achieving a more peaceful and focused state of mind.
There are different types of Amethyst, however they all have the same basic qualities while bringing their own unique energy to the mix. There is Black, Brandberg, Chevron (sometimes called banded, dream or zebra Amethyst), Elestial, Green and Pink. Then there are Amethyst blends or with many inclusions such as Ametrine, Auralite 23, Super 7 and Smoky Amethyst.
A powerful gemstone, Amethyst offers multiple benefits. It has calming properties that can help alleviate stress and even relieve headaches. If you're grappling with addictive tendencies, Amethyst can provide some much-needed support during your journey to release them. Beyond its physical benefits, Amethyst can also cater to your spiritual needs. It has the ability to enhance your intuition and open your 3rd Eye and Crown chakras, thereby bolstering your connection to the spiritual realm.
Amethyst is probably one of the most recognizable crystals. It ranges from pinkish to pale purple to deep purple and is found in many places around the world, including Canada. There is also what we call Green Amethyst, which is actually Prasiolite.
Heat treating Amethyst has long been a practice which makes it turn from a yellow/gold to a dark brandy colour. This is done to make it resemble Citrine. My own theory of this practice is because Amethyst is very plentiful while natural Citrine is not and tends to be more expensive. When Amethyst is partially heated it can result in Ametrine, which is a combination of Amethyst and Citrine. Real natural Ametrine, called Bolivianite, only comes from Bolivia and is much more rare.
Amethyst is part of the Quartz family and has a similar growth pattern with six sides and ends in a six sided terminated point. Amethyst's purple colour is primarily caused by trace amounts of iron impurities and the presence of natural radiation
A fun interesting fact is the Romans would carve goblets out of Amethyst as they believed it would help prevent drunkenness. I'm not sure I want to try out this theory, but if anyone else does, please do let us know how it goes!!
Amethyst is known to connect with the Violet Flame, an energy known for its potent healing, purification, and transformation powers. This energy is directly linked to Ascended Master St Germain, the guardian of the Violet Flame, who is praised for his remarkable healing abilities. The Violet Flame acts like a detoxifier for your body's energy. It can convert negative, stagnant energy into positive, flowing energy. By doing so, it allows your own energy to circulate without any obstacles, promoting overall well-being.
